adding slight pressure to get the blood gushing out of my head to stop. Sounding like he’s going to cry,
“Oh dear Jesus, this isn’t good.”
Emergency sirens sound off, echoing loudly on the roadway. I notice the flickering of red and blue lights. I begin to hear the deputy speak, but then nothing. Everything around me becomes black, as if I don’t exist any longer.
Becoming conscious to the voice of the deputy,
“Do you think Hollister is ever going to wake up doc?”
Noticing my eye struggle to try and open, the Doctor quickly replies,
“It looks like he’s waking up now.”
I feel the deputy’s presence move closer to my bedside. When I try to open my eye, all I can see is blurry objects which quickly make me nauseous. Mustering up the energy needed to move my muscles from what feels like days of hibernation, a clanking sound echoes from the right side of my body. I begin to feel large bumps on the inside of my mouth. Slightly wiggling my dry lips, I feel wires attached to the bumps. My mouth can’t open because my jaws wired shut.
Sounding confused on the entire situation and condition that I manage to conjure myself into, the Doctor is direct and stern with his tone.
“You may need to wait a few minutes before you can question him. We’ll have to keep things to yes or no answers at first. You can have him use hand signals for his answer.”
From outside of the room a female voice strongly speaks as if trying to alert a crowd.
“Excuse me sir, you can’t go in there.”
A familiar sound echoes faintly from the distant. My eye is still shut so I can’t tell how distant. He speaks with a special twang that reminds me of a Mark Twain novel. Southern charm is what I call it.
“I’m Hollister Wolf’s Attorney, and you can’t keep me out of there.”
The female’s voice echoes through the hospitals P.A. system.
    “Code Green, ICU room seven.”
Code Green meant to call the police and tell them where to go, but little did the nurse know that a Deputy Sherriff has been in the room since he brought Hollister there.
Hearing the sound of a sliding door open, someone quickly gasps for breath. It’s the attorney as he’s taken by surprise. He didn’t expect to be standing nose to abdomen with the massive Delaware County Deputy so soon.
Words echo through the room as the deputy is trying to reassure the nurse of his duties,
    “I can handle this.”
The female nurse’s tone changes to more of a shocked sound which I can tell by the pauses as she speaks these three words,
    “Cancel… Code, Green.”
The sound of the attorney clearing his throat broke their short lived moment of silence. The attorney’s voice is very rude, expressing exactly how unhappy he is right now.
“Good afternoon, my name is William Peaks. I’m Hollister’s family attorney.”
The Sherriff barely gets six words in before William nearly explodes.
“Good day to you Mr. Peaks.”
Speaking rambling words so fast, I nearly can’t understand what William is saying.
“What did ya’ll do to one of my main clientele? You should be ashamed of yourselves, and I’m ashamed of this department. You have no dignity SIR! You stand by idly and allow Mr. Wolf to be placed in such harm. Being a prime example of the law, you’re lacking training that could’ve prevented much pain and suffering caused to my client. This behavior is profound and I’ll not rest until my client has been fully protected and compensated for his injuries. Badges should never be given by opening up Cracker Jack boxes.”
The deputy becomes highly frustrated, now speaking austerely.
“Now you just wait a second here Mr. Peaks. There’s no need for such hostility towards me. I’m doing all I can to help Hollister, but it’s Hollister who was driving over ninety miles per hour, endangering the lives of hundreds of people.”
The Deputy is quick to state this knowing there’s more to this story than either of them know. The sounding of a
