the mortals you’ve seduced.” I’d been tricked again. My traitorous body hadn’t given another thought to fucking him.
He rolled over to his side and propped his head on his elbow. “Yes, what of it?”
My mouth dropped open. “Are you kidding? I thought you and I were … I thought we—”
“What, that we’re in love?” He smiled.
Okay, that stung a little. “No, I just mean I thought you wanted me for more than just, you know, more than—”
    “Fucking?”
“Right.” I stopped talking. I didn’t seem to be able to control my body or my mouth.
“I think you’re a beautiful mortal. I want us to enjoy each other. Is that so wrong?” His voice was low, sexy, and magnificent just like the rest of him.
I shook my head, refusing to fall under his spell again. “No. I mean, yes. I can’t just stay here and forget about my life.”
His smile fell. “But you will.”
    I straightened my back. “No, I won’t.”
His gaze darkened. “Yes, you will. I’m a god, my pet. You can’t deny me.”
Fear trickled down my spine. I tossed the sheets and stood. “You can’t keep me prisoner.”
“Prisoner?” He laughed. “In a palace of your own where anything you’d ever want would be provided to you? That’s not a prison.”
“A gilded cage still has bars.” I took a step back.
He was on me in a split second. I was flying through the air, back onto the bed and he was crushing down on top of me. His hand was at my throat, cutting off my air.
“It would be so easy. It would be nothing for me to squeeze the life out of you.” He let go and I sputtered.
“But I don’t want to. I want to bring you pleasure, not pain.” He smoothed his hand down to my breast and kneaded it.
    “I can’t stay here.”
“You can and you will. You don’t have a choice.” He kissed up my neck, nibbling as he went.
I couldn’t deny that his proposition was appealing beyond belief. Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being caged, trapped in a life that I hadn’t chosen for myself. The image of Dean’s dark eyes flitted across my mind.
“It would be wonderful. You’d love it.” He continued his kisses down my chest and tongued my nipple.
He was hard again, his insatiable length against my thigh.
“And if I say no?” My question was a breathy whisper.
“Then I will keep you by any means necessary. I rather liked you tied.” He yanked me over until I was on my stomach. Ropes lashed out from the bed and gripped my wrists. He kissed down my back as I struggled uselessly against my bonds.
When he reached my ass, he rubbed a wet finger over my asshole.
“No!” The sensation was all new, erotic and and delicious. But I couldn’t stay here, couldn’t give in.
“Yes, my pet.” He rubbed the wrinkled skin and kissed down my ass cheeks.
There was a swift knock at the door.
He paused his attentions. “What?” His voice rumbled, anger in the notes.
“I’m sorry, my lord, but Pegasus has finally returned. You said you wanted word as soon as he landed.”
“Fine. You’ve given me word.” Zeus yelled back toward the door. He bent over my ass again, running his tongue down between my cheeks.
I pulled at the ropes, but they only lashed tighter.
    “There’s something else, my lord.”
“Spit it out!” Zeus’ yell shook the room.
“He’s injured, my lord. Something’s wrong with him. He was barely able to touch down. He’s limping terribly and there are wounds all over him.”
    “Find Artemis. Bring her here.”
“She’s out on the hunt, my lord.”
    “Fuck!”
My thoughts raced. The haze of lust was finally gone. I formulated a plan. “Zeus, listen, I can help. I’m a veterinarian.”
He snorted. “You’re a mortal who takes care of mortal animals. Have you ever treated a winged horse?” He rubbed my ass as he spoke.
“No, but I’ve treated hundreds of regular horses. How different can they be?”
    “Very different.”
The voice came through the door. “I’m sorry
